Who we R

Transforming fashion calls for a collaborative spirit, design vision and business guts. That’s why our founding platform is so unique. We were created through a collaborative effort that builds on the 10-year legacy of Redress, the world’s largest charity working to reduce fashion’s waste, and a powerful group of advisors. We have a core full time and dedicated multicultural executional team to drive our business and brand’s operations and our head designer works closely with our acclaimed cohort of uniquely curated sustainable designers residing in The R collective. We operate as a social impact business and are a separate organisation from Redress. Meet us all below.

R Designers

The emerging fashion designers and creative geniuses in our R Collective are the real stars. We uniquely curate our designers through the work of our sister charity, Redress, who organise the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition, The Redress Design Award. Through their competition, Redress searches the globe for the best emerging sustainable designers. After each annual, gruelling educational competition cycle, which is the also focus of a TV series called Frontline Fashion, The R Collective offers competition winners and other standout talents the chance to join The R Collective to unleash their talents and collections into the world of retail - and into your closets.

So far, our inaugural designers’ upcycled collections have retailed between Lane Crawford, Asia’s leading department store, and Barneys New York, as well as on our e-commerce platform.

About us who we are BYT's mission

Designed for you

The R Collective designs for people like you and me; real people trying to live with courage and conviction. We celebrate individuality, authenticity and the 'imperfectly perfect' in us all and our clothes are made to champion hopes for a better future. But we don’t want you simply to buy more clothes. Instead, we hope you’ll buy into our belief that fashion needs more love! So you can even rent some pieces or buy them, wear and later return them to us for repair or recycling so that what goes around comes around.

The R Collective Vision

Our vision is a world where fashion, which has always been a reflection of our times, goes back to her roots: becoming respected and revered.

We believe that designers’ creativity can transform the world’s abundance of waste materials into stunning and scalable solutions for our customers to love, on the inside and outside, whilst protecting our environment. We are out to prove that fashion can be a force for good.

Kévin Germanier

R Collective Designer

Kévin co-designed our Trailblazer Collection with Victor. He’s a 2017 graduate from London’s Central Saint Martins, where he wowed press (and Bjork, who quickly snapped him up!) with his final collection of sustainable designs. He previously won Redress’ 2016 competition cycle with his stand out upcycling techniques (and charm!) before designing Shanghai Tang’s inaugural upcycled collection. He’s now working at Louis Vuitton in Paris.

Kate Morris

R Collective Designer

Kate designed our Pop Collection upcycled knitwear range. She’s a recent graduate from UK’s Nottingham Trent University and she has a Bachelor in Fine Arts. (Hint - these are both combined in her gorgeous Pop Collection.) She won Redress’ 2017 competition cycle, charming everyone in her path and single handedly (we think!) adding her distinct star appeal to upcycled yarn waste!

lia kassif

Lia Kassif

R Collective Designer

Lia Kassif is the creative force behind our next collection, which is currently lovingly on the drawing board. She bolted out of Israel’s Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art with her resilient and refreshing personality ready for big action. She’s a winner from Redress’ 2017 competition cycle, where her upcycled military and bridal waste collection sent audiences into a style and sustainability tailspin. (Hint - expect a twist on this to be on sale soon!)
